He said: Shiraz is the third shrine of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) in Iran and enjoys monuments affiliated to scholars such as Hafez, Saadi, and Sheikh Rozbahan, as well as gardens like Ghasrodasht, Eram, Delgosha, Afifabad, and Jahan Nama. Shiraz has been the cradle of arts like Toreutics, enameling, and calligraphy, and holds the title of World Handicrafts City. In addition, as a medical and tourism hub, it has an unmatched capacity in the region. Mohammad Hassan Asadi welcomed investors from Oman, China and Turkey, the mayor of Baghdad, the mayors of the world metropolises, the chairmen of the councils of Iranian metropolises, the heads of the Economic and Investment Commissions of metropolitan councils, and financial and economic deputies and heads of investment organizations of Iranian metropolises. He considered the main and fundamental issue for urban management in Shiraz metropolis to be the presence of the private sector and noted: In the 13th government and after 20 years, we witnessed the approval of the Law on Sustainable Income, Article one of which is dedicated to investment and providing conditions for the private sector to invest and make profit with peace of mind.

The mayor of Shiraz described the Law of Sustainable Income as a good opportunity to attract the private sector and said: In the first conference, various memoranda and investment covenants were concluded amounting to 15,000,000,000,000 Tomans, and today a promising instrument was also concluded with the investment sector.

The mayor of Shiraz stated that the main purpose of concluding various agreements was to serve the people and added: The development of tourism infrastructure is one of the main concerns in Shiraz and in this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed for the construction of a cable car, which is of great importance for the people of Shiraz.

Asadi listed the construction of an amusement park, cable car, bird garden, water park, and aquarium as important facilities demanded by people in Shiraz and added: In this regard, the contract for the construction of an aquarium was signed and entered into with a Turkish company and its construction operations have already commenced.

He stressed that to become effective, the agreements needed to be followed up after conclusion. He said: Part of the memorandums we concluded last year has been implemented. For example, the investment agreement with Shahr Bank with a credit of 20,000,000,000,000 Tomans has been pursued with more than 5,000,000,000,000 Tomans having been realized so far.

Furthermore, referring to the various capacities for enhancing tourism and attracting investment, Mohammad Hadi Imanieh, the governor of Fars, said: We invite investors to invest in various fields of tourism.

Referring to the presence of representatives from different countries, the representative of the government in Fars also noted that they were ready to play their role in further communication with China.

Iraq ready to benefit from the experience of the elites of neighboring countries

Ammar Musa Kazem, the mayor of Baghdad, announced the enthusiasm on the part of the Iraqi capitals municipality to conclude a memorandum of understanding with Shiraz municipality.

He stated that the conference made him familiar with the capacities and challenges ahead for further cooperation. He said: Today we are here to pave the way for cooperation between the municipalities of Shiraz and Baghdad and to cooperate and gain more experience.

The mayor of Baghdad added: We are witnessing a construction revolution in Iraq and the doors of Iraq are open to everyone, who can help us use the experience of the elites of the neighboring countries and to support and accompany Iraq.

Tourism is the most important and valuable capacity of Shiraz

In this conference, Mehdi Taheri, the Chairman of Shiraz Islamic Council, stated: The most important and valuable capacity of Shiraz metropolis is tourism, which should be used optimally. We must activate the tourism capacity in Shiraz and provide the required infrastructure. He added: When investors invest in this sector, other capacities will also be activated.

Jordi Vaquer, Secretary General of Metropolis (the Global Network of Metropolises and Metropolitan Areas) also sent a message to the Second Annual Investment Development Conference in Shiraz.

He emphasized the relationship between Iran and Oman as two friendly and neighboring countries. He also stressed Shiraz and Muscat connections, stating that there are bilateral capacities in various relations and flight lines between these two cities, which provide an opportunity to Muscat Municipality to strengthen medical tourism in the metropolis.

Nasser bin Salem bin Muhammad Al-Saadi, the director general of Bawshar, a city in Muscat province, who attended the conference as a representative of the mayor of Muscat, emphasized the long history of the metropolis and stated: Muscat Municipality is also more than 100 years old and in this regard, we want to cooperate in the field of urban landscape and image.

He continued to say: Since ancient times, we have enjoyed Irans support in various fields. He mentioned the airlines between Shiraz and Muscat and clarified that given the cultural similarity between Shiraz and Oman, Omanis choose Shiraz as their tourist destination and they benefit from opportunities such as medical services in the metropolis.

The representative of the mayor of Muscat considered business relations and medical investment in Shiraz metropolis as a valuable idea, which should be strengthened. He also stressed the realization of the sisterhood of these two cities.

Problems in the region have been minimized and this is effective in interactions

Jafar Ghaderi, the parliament member elected from Shiraz and Zarghan said: There is no other way to grow production except through investment. Therefore, the grounds should be prepared for investment in the country.

In the closing ceremony of the Second Annual Investment Development Conference in Shiraz, he said: The laws and conditions of domestic and foreign investment and the related interactions should be set in such a way to attract investors.

Ghaderi added: Now the regional conditions are changing resulting in a decline in issues and problems to a minimum, paving the way for effective interactions.

He pointed out that when the conditions and atmosphere for interactions with other countries are established, other countries will feel a lower pressure.

He mentioned attempts to approve a general plan to solve most of the investment problems and to set the grounds for its expansion. Pointing out that projects should be delegated whenever required and the municipality should entrust these works to the private sector with a higher activity in the investment sector, he added: Municipalities can play an effective role in productivity.

Given that many service complexes are in high-traffic areas of the city, railway lines and the completion of the ring road can increase the maneuvering power of the municipality.
